On this Veterans’ Day, we would like to honor James Villanueva.
James is a Keller Williams Southwest agent who recently helped another veteran with his housing needs. That man was Joe Palacios. Joe grew up in Houston. When he joined the Marines in 1992, Joe moved to California…where he’s lived ever since. “That’s where I met Megan,” says Joe. “A native Californian.” Joe’s recently retired from the military, and he and Megan–together with three kids and two dogs–are moving to Texas! “I met KW (Keller Williams) Southwest agent James Villanueva on a veteran’s support group on Facebook,” says Joe. “James is Navy and we really connected.”
Megan has a friend that lives in Sugar Land, and the couple decided this is the place for them to buy home. Megan says, “I was coming out for a week to visit Beth, so I met up with James. We talked about different areas and schools; what is important for my family. Then we visited about 12 homes, and put in an offer on one. We were so excited…but once I was back in CA, we learned the offer did not go through. Disappointed, we sent Beth with James to look at houses and FaceTime them with us. Then Beth was on vacation, and we saw a house we liked online. James went by himself and walked us through via FaceTime. Ultimately, he FaceTimed seven houses for us. And I would make crazy requests…like ask him to get in the shower and show me how it looks. I don’t think many agents would do that! There were also times we asked his opinion. We came to really trust him with a lot.”
“It’s kind of crazy,” continues Joe. “We haven’t even seen the house we are buying in Texas in person. But my Dad and Beth have, and they say it’s beautiful. James knew exactly what we were looking for after looking at so many with us. This is our first time to buy a home, and we had no idea what we were getting into. James is very good at communicating, even though we are several states away. When our mortgage company in CA was missing something, James found the problem and corrected it. In fact, my friend Patrick who did all the loan work said he has worked with thousands of agents, and James was the first to ever take responsibility for a mistake and just quickly take care of it. That’s integrity. Of course we recommend James!”
Once settled here in Sugar Land, Joe is planning to start an urban farm. He says, “This will be a community supported agriculture project that will serve as a transitional work program for veterans.” Megan is leaving an established massage therapist practice in CA. Look for Joe’s urban farm and Megan’s new practice opening here in Sugar Land soon!
