Scavenger hunt features history and fun

Sugar Land Scavenger Hunt

If you’re up for a challenge that is both fun and educational, get a team together to participate in the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation’s 2nd Annual Scavenger Hunt, which is set for Sunday, June 12. The entry fee is $1,000 for a business team, and $500 for families or for a team of business colleagues who are all younger than 35. “We are really trying to encourage the younger generations to participate,” said SLHF Executive Director Dennis Parmer.

The hunt, which starts at 1 p.m. at Sterling McCall Nissan, will be focused on the history of the area. After clues are dispensed, teams will depart at 1:30 and return at 4 p.m. Each scavenger hunt item has an assigned point value, and teams are required to take photos of each item they find and send the photos back to the Scavenger Hunt Headquarters. The winning team will have its name imprinted on a brick from the historical Imperial refinery site, and the brick will be displayed at the future Sugar Land Heritage Museum.

All teams can enjoy drinks and appetizers at the closing reception from 4-5 p.m. The event, which is sponsored by Sterling McCall Nissan and Fort Bend Toyota, is a fund-raiser for the future SLHF Museum (on the Imperial property). For more information, please visit slheritage. org.
